Benedict Arlen Calls For Wilson Censure or Reprimand; Rahmbo's Tells the Fib to End All Fibs

Sen. Specter has once again mouthed off without thinking:

There ought to be a reprimand or censure of Rep. Joe Wilson to discourage that kind of conduct in the future.

Apparently, he has forgotten how George W. Bush was often treated over the last 8 years. Were there any calls for censures or reprimands for the Democrats that heckled Bush 43? No.

By the way, he another laughable quote from Rahmbo:

"No president has ever been treated like that. Ever"

Um, has he been hibernating the last 8 years?

Arlen Specter (D-PA) Exploits Jack Kemp's Death For Personal Political Gain

If only, we had socialized medicine. There would be no more pain. No one would ever die. At least, that is what Sen. Specter (D-PA) implied this past Sunday:

Jack Kemp would still be alive if the federal government had done a better job funding cancer research, Sen. Arlen Specter said Sunday, one day after Kemp, the 1996 Republican vice presidential nominee and former congressman, died of cancer.

The Pennsylvania senator, who last week switched his party affiliation from Republican to Democrat, made the claim on two Sunday shows.

Not only did Arlen make this claim once, but he turned around and said it again the same day. Sorry, Harry Reid, there are no takebacks.

"Frankly, I was disappointed that the Republican Party didn't want me as their candidate. But as a matter of principle, I'm becoming much more comfortable with the Democrats' approach," Specter said. "And one of the items that I'm working on ... is funding for medical research. I've been the spear carrier to increase medical research."

Specter added: "If we had pursued what President Nixon declared in 1970 as the war on cancer, we would have cured many strains. I think Jack Kemp would be alive today. And that research has saved or prolonged many lives, including mine."

It is despicable to think that anyone would exploit Jack Kemp's death for personal political gain.

His claims are totally unfounded. This country has spent more on cancer research than any other country in the world.

Inevitable: Turncoat Caucus' Specter Stabs GOP in the Back

Specter's voting record looks more like the voting record of a Democrat anyway. So, yesterday's news wasn't a surprise.

Veteran Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter told colleagues Tuesday that he switched from the Republican to the Democratic Party, Sen. Harry Reid says.

[Democrats] are trying very hard for the 60th vote. Got to give them credit for trying. But the answer is no.

He knows that he has little to no shot at winning the Republican primary because of his "yes" votes on Obama's porkulus and overspending bills. The only shot that he has to win another term is to turn Democrat. A win in the Democratic party isn't a sure thing either, but it's more likely than a GOP victory.

He went on to blame the his former partymates for him betraying the party he has been with since the Reagan years. He claims that the GOP "has moved far to the right."

It wasn't any of the "social issues" that landed Specter in trouble with the party. It was the basic Republican tenet of fiscal responsibility that he abandoned that led to his downfall in the party. There is nothing "far right" about fiscal responsibility. Fiscal responsibility is one of the big issues that Obama campaigned on, and Obama isn't "far right" by any stretch of the imagination.

It wasn't the his party that abandoned Specter. It was Specter that abondoned the GOP when he voted for the Democrats' porkulus bill.

U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter was greeted with jeers at a press conference in Cranberry Township.

Conservatives are fuming after Specter cast the deciding vote that led to the passage of President Barack Obama's stimulus plan.

Specter, 79, acknowledges his run for re-election will be tough.

He says he's not completely happy with Obama's plans but he points out that he was able to cut the price tag by over $100 billion and he says he was able to increase the amount of tax cuts.

Even so, Specter acknowledges the Republican Party's conservative wing will attempt to unseat him in next year's primary race.

Six years ago, Specter barely won the Republican primary, but he says he's not afraid to fight for the job one more time.

My Thoughts

He deserves worse. I think that the people in Pennsylvania need to send him pork rinds, protest outside his office, call and write in their displeasure with his actions. We cannot let up. If we do we'll wake up one day and be Sweden or, dare to think, California.
