Is This Really Necessary? Oscar the Grouch Trashes Fox News
In an effort to not so subliminally influence our young, a television show that is geared to toddlers has decided to enter the war against Fox News. Oscar, Big Bird, and company are supposed to be teaching our kids how to count and say their ABC's not what news channel to watch when they come of age. Considering that it is all of our tax dollars that pay for Sesame Street, we are all paying for our kids to be indoctrinated by Oscar the Grouch. This is way over the line, and yet another reason why all federal money should be pulled from PBS, if they continue to include this liberal propaganda in our children's educational programming.

Wow, I thought they were going to break into a Naughty By Nature song for a minute. This is straight out of North Korea's playbook.
Hot Air's AP said that he wasn't that concerned about it "because they’re too young to understand and/or assimilate the agenda they’re singing about (and way too young to vote, natch)." I disagree with him on this point. While they might not catch the full grasp of what they're singing, it does seep in their minds subconsciously. How many kids that grew up in Sunday schools can recite "Jesus Loves Me" well into their adulthood, even if they haven't gone to church for years. We are the most impressionable when we are young. It is when we build a foundation of who we will become later in life.
Although, I do agree with him that it is totally out of line for the teacher to choose to adapt a "hymn about how much Jesus loves the little children" into one of the above hymns. It seems that they are comparing Obama to Jesus.
This line made me laugh until I fainted. (Figuratively speaking):
"Hello, Mr. President we honor you today!

He's been in office less than 1 year. What are these "great accomplishments". All they've done was drive the deficit up $1T this year. That's not so "great" in my book.
I heard another line that peaked my attention. "Equal work for equal pay" is straight out of the DNC talking points. How can this not be considered politicizing the classroom and indoctrination of our kids? In addition to this "quiz" and this other praise and worship session, the latest video is a prime example of liberal bias that many of our teachers hold. This bias is trickling down to the little sponges that they teach every day. Teachers must be very careful to keep that from happening, but may are overtly influencing their young minds with their liberal thinking.

The First Amendment Gets Big Win, Teacher Found Liable For Making Anti-Christiam Remarks in Class
Score one for the First Amendment:
The 20-year teaching veteran, James Corbett, has made many condescending comments to students who have religious beliefs. On this particular day, former student, Chad Farnan, recorded the teacher making 20 inflammatory statements against Chad for his belief in creation.
The one that the judge said violated Farnan's first amendment rights was when Mr. Corbett called creation "superstitious nonsense" in front of the class during a lecture.
There were other comments that somehow the judge didn't think was as bad as the "superstitious nonsense" comment. I don't see how they're any better:
One thing I'm a bit confused about is this. Why a European history teacher is talking about creation anyway? Wasn't creation just a little before the beginning of the European history?

Also dismissed in April were comments such as, "Conservatives don't want women to avoid pregnancies — that's interfering with God's work" and "When you pray for divine intervention, you're hoping that the spaghetti monster will help you get what you want."
On Friday, Selna also dismissed one of the two remaining statements, saying that Corbett may have been attempting to quote Mark Twain when he said religion was "invented when the first con man met the first fool."

Michigan Teacher Mocked HS Senior Watching FoxNews.com, Said It Was "Wrong" News
A Michigan senior in high school was allegedly mocked by his teacher for going to Foxnews.com:
What is the "wrong" news? Could it be that she thinks that left-wing hacks at MSNBC are "right"? This is a blatant attempt to indoctrinate her students into a certain ideology that gives her a tingle up her leg everytime Obama speaks.
Pathetic.
A Michigan high school is investigating allegations that one of its teachers berated and belittled a student for taking part in what the teacher considered an unacceptable activity: reading FOXNews.com.
A young man who identified himself only as Mitchell, an 18-year-old senior at Traverse City West Senior High School, called in to Rush Limbaugh's radio show Thursday and said he was yelled at in front of his classmates for reading the "wrong" news.

Many Children's Textbooks Misrepresent Religions
Authors Warn That Many Textbooks Distort Religion

Jesus was a Palestinian? That's what one public school textbook says.
Although Jesus lived in a region known in his time as Palestine, the use of the term "Palestinian," with its modern connotations, is among the hundreds of textbook flaws cited in a recent five-year study of educational anti-Semitism detailed in the book "The Trouble with Textbooks: Distorting History and Religion."
Authors Gary Tobin and Dennis Ybarra of the Institute for Jewish and Community Research found some 500 imperfections and distortions concerning religion in 28 of the most widely used social studies and history textbooks in the United States.
Ybarra, a research associate at the institute, called the above example "shocking."
A "true or false" question on the origins of Christianity asserted that "Christianity was started by a young Palestinian named Jesus." The teacher's edition says this is "true."
But even though Jesus is the founder of Christianity, the question ignores the fact that he was Jewish. And Ybarra said, "The Christian scriptures say that he preached in Judea and Galilee, not Palestine," a term that was used at the time as a less specific description of the broader region between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River.
Ybarra says part of the problem is that publishers employ or contract with writers who are not experts in the subject, or they may use out-of-date information. Or they may bow to special interest groups.
"They're under pressure from all kinds of minority groups, religious groups, and they try to satisfy everyone and that results in content that is dumbed down to the lowest common denominator," he said. "And so, in that process, things can be missed. Errors can survive."
Ybarra also claims that the textbooks tend not to treat Christianity, Judaism and Islam equally.
"Islam has a privileged position," he said. "It's not critiqued or criticized or qualified, whereas Judaism and Christianity are."
One example is in the glossary of "World History: Continuity and Change." It calls the Ten Commandments "moral laws Moses claimed to have received from the Hebrew God," while the entry for the Koran contains no such qualifier in saying it is the "Holy Book of Islam containing revelations received by Muhammad from God."
But First Amendment scholar Dr. Charles Haynes, who has written extensively on the subject of public schools and religion, says he thinks sometimes the criticisms go a little too far.
"There's no conspiracy in the textbook industry to favor one religion over another. ... I think the group that bangs the pot the loudest gets the most attention," he said.
"Having said all that, I think the textbooks are working at trying to treat everybody the same way," he added. "They made mistakes. They've got to work on it."
Experts agree, though, that part of the problem rests in the fact that there are so few textbook publishers.
Seventy-five percent of public school books are published by just three companies: Houghton Mifflin, McGraw-Hill and Pearson Education. None responded to requests for comment for this story.
"It's a big problem right now that we have so few choices in our textbooks," Haynes said. "This is an industry. ... It's a marketplace. They're trying to sell their textbooks."
But Ybarra said it goes deeper than pure economics. He thinks the school books are being used as tools for propaganda, particularly to perpetuate negative attitudes towards Christianity, Israel and pro-Palestinian views concerning the Middle East.
"We fear that this is creating a generation of biased school children," he said. "Some of our projects in the higher education realm with some of these same subject matters, we find that students do show up at universities with these prejudices."
Ybarra maintains that, ultimately, parents and communities need to get involved and demand accountability from school boards, publishers and scholars on what goes into the materials being used to teach fresh, young minds.

This is just another move by the secular, liberal establishment to minimize religion in tomorrow's generation.
