Obama's Katrina?

Obama Declares Major Disaster in Kentucky Over Ice Storm
Thursday, February 05, 2009

FRANKFORT, Ky. —  President Barack Obama on Thursday issued a major disaster declaration for Kentucky in the wake of a deadly ice storm, ordering federal aid to supplement local recovery efforts.

Gov. Steve Beshear sought the major disaster status earlier this week. The storm has been blamed for 27 Kentucky deaths.

Beshear said such a declaration would open the state to immediate federal financial assistance in the wake of the devastating ice storm, which cut power to more than three-fourths of a million homes and businesses, a state record.

My Thoughts
It's about time, Pres. Obama. I was wondering when you were going to do anything about Kentucky.

I want to know where is the outrage from the media? Katrina was mishandled, no doubt. Bush was rightfully torched for his role. (Although, maybe too much blame was put solely on him when Gov. Blanco and Mayor Nagin deserved much of the blame, too.)

Is Kentucky's winter storm Obama's Katrina? Almost 1 M people was without power and led to 27 deaths so far. Bush was called "racist" because of the fact that most of those that wew hurt were blacks. Could the same said of Obama who has not done anything to help those who "cling to their guns and religion".

I'm not trying to equate Katrina and Kentucky, but the lack of response from the presidents in comparison to the level of destruction caused by Mother Nature. Obama hasn't done anything to help those in Kentucky that have been affected by the storm.
